Essa's only advance poll Saturday at Administration Centre

Posted October 17 - Essa Township's only advance poll will also take place tomorrow between 10 am to 6 pm at the Administration Centre, 5786 County Road 21. The township has 12,427 eligible voters.

All-candidates meeting tonight in Ivy

Posted October 16 - Municipal candidates running for Essa Township council will take part in an all-candidates meeting sponsored by AWARE Simcoe's Essa off-shoot, at the Ivy Orange Hall, beginning at 6 pm with a meet and greet, followed by the question and answer session at 7 pm.

Township's treasurer retiring in January

Posted October 2 - After two decades looking after the books for the Township of Essa, Julie Barrett has announced her last day on the job as treasurer will be December 18. Using vacation days owing her, the official retirement date will be effective January 31, 2015.

New tanker truck for Essa Fire

Posted October 2 - Essa council has approved the  purchase of a 2015 1080SD Freightliner from Dependable Emergency Vehicles including a 3000 USWG poly tank, a portable tank for off-loaded water, a suction hose and 840 GPM Hale pump for a total cost of $215,000 plus tax for immediate delivery. The funds were allocated in the 2014 budget.

Fire line and bridge work picked for infrastructure program

Posted October 2 - Essa council has selected reconstruction of Bridge NO.9 on the 5th Line of Essa and the Utopia Industrial Area Non-Potable Fire Protection Line, as its two submissions for funding from the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF) and the Building Canada Fund - Small Communities Fund. The deadline for consideration was Sept. 19th.

Posted October 2 - Members of Essa Township council present representatives of the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation, last night, with a cheque for $7,250, part of the proceeds raised by the Township's annual golf tournament which was $19,500. The Alliston and Area Physician Recruitment Committee received $5,000 and RVH in Barrie, $7,250.
