County Warden to serve full term starting in 2014
Posted October 16, 2012
Simcoe County councillors determined this morning during a special
meeting to discuss governance issues, that following the next municipal
elections in November 2014, the Warden they elect from among their
group by secret ballot, will serve the entire four years of council. Currently it's two years.
Additionally, the three standing committee system will be replaced by a
committee of the whole structure. And because they couldn't come to an
agreement on who to eliminate, the council size will continue to be 32
and include the mayors and deputy mayors of each municipality. The Angus Ratepayers Association is requesting Essa council to eliminate the deputy mayor's position and add another council seat for Angus. And, the councillor with the most votes on election night would represent the township at the County. Click
