Deputy fire chief resigned

Essa Fire has an opening for a deputy fire chief following the July 31 resignation of Richard Cox.

"I thank you for the opportunity for professional and personal development that you have provided me during the last few years," wrote Richard Cox in his letter of resignation. "I have enjoyed working for the Essa Volunteer Fire Department and appreciate the support provided me during my time with the Fire Department."

The Angus resident was appointed Deputy Fire Chief, and Essa Township's Fire Inspector for its Acts and Bylaw enforcement in March 2012.

Mayor Terry Dowdall noted this afternoon that Mr. Cox resigned for family and full-time job commitments. His replacement has not yet been named.
